Young Talents in Maintenance - Daily Work of Marketing Coordinator and the Impact of It
Share
Ella has graduated as an industrial designer and her interest in visual communication has strongly guided her career path. The position as marketing coordinator at FleetCare appealed to Ella because the role allows her to use her visual and communication skills in the heavy industry sector while learning more about marketing and corporate communication.
At FleetCare, Ella performs various marketing and communication tasks, such as content ideation, production, and updating. Her to-do list includes creating layouts for company brochures and content for websites and social media.
Ella's role in maintenance marketing and communication is important and visible to the outside world. Her role is to be involved in communicating through different channels that FleetCare uses so that potential customers and other stakeholders know about FleetCare and how it operates. For example, the company brochures and social media content are part of the communication channels.
"When a potential customer or train passenger knows what's happening behind the scenes, it's because someone has told them. Open communication is important for the company and its brand."
One of the essential skills that Ella says she needs in her job is communication skills. It is important to be able to communicate with multiple stakeholders - to ask questions if something is unclear and to share her own point of view. This way she also gets to learn more about the industry itself. Ella had no previous experience with the railways as a working environment, but her work has given her a better understanding of it, and it’s useful in her day-to-day work.
In addition to industry knowledge, Ella has also learned about how a large company like VR operates and how it looks after its brand. Professional development is rewarding and motivating. It's also nice to be able to influence her job description. Ella's strengths in visual tasks were already apparent during the job interview, and she has been happy to be able to use them in her work.
All in all, working at FleetCare has gone well.
"The atmosphere here is good, people are open and welcoming, so it was nice to start working here. Also being open and receptive myself helped a lot."
After the summer Ella stayed at FleetCare in the same role. She’s happy with the opportunity: “It’s quite nice to see my development as an employee, and it’s even nicer I get to hone my skills, tackle new challenges, and do my part.”
